Well it’s that time again…PR update time 🙂 So tonight I ran the update script on both the web and article directory lists. Everything is now up-to-date again!

I am putting a stop to all incentivized ratings, effective immediately. This means you cannot offer ANY incentives at all for rating your directory. I know some directory owners are offering featured links, this is no longer allowed. It’s always been a gray area, and now some directory owners have pushed it too far by only offering featured listings to people who give them above a certain score.

I know which directories are doing this, and you need to stop now. If you do not stop, I will delete your directory without warning.

You can still encourage webmasters to rate your directory, but do not offer them anything for doing so.

As most fo you have probably already noticed there are dirs on the new dirs page 🙂 I am back in the office, and after about 5 hours of solid work on this site I have everything up to date. Added about 70 or so new directories, and made 160 list updates.

Thanks for you patience, I didn’t receive too much hate mail about not approves directories quick enough! lol

So it’s business as usual from now on…

I am taking a long deserved vacation 🙂 So I will be out of the office for 1 week, 8th to 15th of April. This means there will be no additions or list updates while I am away. I am up-to-date with current submissions, advertising and updates so nothing is waiting. You can still submit new directories, report directories etc and I will get to them when I get back into the office.

Hi guys and girls…you may have noticed over the last 12 hours or so that the website has been acting up. Slow page loads, timeouts and database connection errors. After speaking to support, I found out that the are upgrading the hard disks and raid on my server. This should be finished shortly.

I should have posted this ages ago, but Directory Critic is now hosting free PHPLD templates. This is the first of a number of coming additions to our resource section on this site. So far we have about 15 free templates live, and once the other designers upload theirs we should have about 35.

If you’re a designer head to the free PHPLD templates page and click the “apply here” link to get your templates listed on Directory Critic (this doesn’t cost anything and you’ll get a free backlink to your site).

In other new, the total number of directories listed on this site topped the 3,500 mark last week. We’re still adding a lot more directories that we’re deleting so the list keeps on growing. Seems a lot of people want to own their own directory! It’s also good to see that the number of quality directories that are emerging now. It shows that if you put the time and effort into your directory you can still be successful.
