Before they give you their e-mail address to signup at your newsletter, before they signup with your forum, the user has to trust you and your site?
How do you do it? Put some icons that say you're apart of a "Good Business Network?" Do you tell them "You hate spam, too!" Or what? Is your trust-worthiness built into your site's design? |

I don't think it ever comes with time. There are sites out there that I don't trust, such as DigitalPoint -- huge forum, no sense of community or spirit, just cold.
On the other hand, if you get a single plug from a big media outlet or like-minded website authority, you're set on your launch date. |
