Best Design Formats

Personally, I like 3-column designs with a header up top. I see some designs have only one column with a lot of boxes, but I think they're pretty confusing.

Wordpress mainly uses 2-column designs, I just don't like how they take up only a small part of the page. What do you guys use?

I use two column wordpress kind of layout.
