Default Title tag

What's everyone strategy for title tags? Personally, if I'm going for a really single competitive term, I'll simply have the title being that keyword. If it's a variety of keywords, I'll have two or three keyword phrases in the title. I rarely have more than that, though.

One thing I'll never do is be like one of those sites that has 50 keywords in the title. It's not very targeted and probably helps you as much as a tax audit.

My strategy is to keep in short, under 60 character.
Not to use the domain name as the title
And as mentioned above, utilize targeted keyword in the title tag

Default Link Titles Are Very Important

I discovered that while build a website. I had just started and it had empty pages and no content. But I noticed Google adsense ads were picking up the title big time and the ads were accurate. Now I know that adsense is not the search results but the algorithms might be close. Maybe I missed it but I thought that discovery to make it worthwhile to develop dynamic header tags. See my directory at bungeebones.com and surf through the categories. Watch the titles change as you do. Google indexes the whole thing.

Agree with this. A short and relevant title gives more power to the keywords inserted.

That's what I'm doing too.. Because separators mean different things to a search engine inside a query. A hyphen works as a localized EXACT operation, while a vertical bar works as an OR operation...

if you just started your directory, you probably want to target some niche keywords, I would use | to separate my keywords
