Social Media Sites

If you search around forums, you guys have to have seen those people offering "I'll submit your site to every social media outlet on the web." Anybody ever do it? How effective are they?

With those, you'd have to be offering something unique -- wouldn't you? I read about a guy advertising his MySpace theme site on Digg/Reddit and he was getting a few links, plus traffic from it.

It all depends if you have decent content which people will digg, sumble upon, squidoo, etc. If your content is garbage or something they already knew about they do not really want to know the same news twice.

What kind of content works best? I know top 10 lists used to work, but I heard that they're actually frowned upon now. Too saturated.

I think the most effect Social Media links are those that are of follow ones....

Nofollow links to Social Media are useless or have no value to Google...

That's not true at all. Social media sites aren't important for the links that are on THOSE sites, but the links that those sites produce.
