Is it worth starting a Directory in today’s day and age?

Today directories are diminishing importance with every passing day so Is there starting a directory is still good idea?

I do not believe on those people who are saying those. I am still reaping the benefits of directory submission.

Visibility online is the core of every online business marketing strategy. Hence we cannot do away with Directory Submission services. It's really worth submitting.

What do you mean by "You link your website"? I as of now, never have given any link from my website to any directory.

I just do to get reverse impact of it i.e. directories must link back to me.

So by "Link your website", it is not limited to just outbound, it can also be inbound. Depends on how you carry out.

Since You come to this point, one question came into my mind that google is penalizing those directories which gives out do follow link? Is it true? I did not found any evidence to support that statement but there is a fear in my mind.

Can any one tell me what is the truth? Is it a truth?
