Niche Directories - Why aren't more of you creating them?

Though I run a general web directory, I admit niche directories are better, might be harder to promote but they are definitely worth the hard work. Niche directories often provide more resources/deeper-listings, so if you perhaps are looking for pets, you should rather visit a pets directory than a general one.

Even if a general one may link to pet directories, it may not include as many resources as you wish to see - but general directories aren't bad either, as long as you keep it a directory.

the hardest part is promoting them. I had a niche directory for Telecom but for some reasons a good deal of the sites in that niche the webmasters do not use directories. It seems most voip sites barely have 300 backlinks.
